Our Student Services team of dedicated and caring professionals is committed to meeting the educational needs of each student referred to our attention. To this end, a variety of programs and supports are available to address differences in learning for students with a wide range of special needs.
Service is provided to schools on a "needs" basis, within available resources, following the stages of the provincially mandated program planning process as described in the Nova Scotia Department of Education and Early Childhood Development (DEECD) publications,
Inclusive Education Policy and
The Program Planning Process: A Guide for Parents, 2016.
The program planning process is designed to accommodate special needs of all types; from the most basic physical, social, behavioural and learning challenges to the most advanced gifts and talents. While the majority of students are fully integrated into the regular classes, there are a number of special education classes throughout our region.
All Student Services programming delivered in CCRCE is consistent with policies and guidelines published in the Nova Scotia Department of Education and Early Childhood Development Special Education Policy, 2008, provisions of The Education Act, the current Public School Program, and with the Chignecto Central Regional Centre for Education’s guidelines, policies and procedures.
If you have a question about the supports provided, please contact the Student Services Department at 1-800-770-0008 (toll free) or 902-897-8955.
