CEC recognizes students with Achievement Night Awards Ceremony
The Cobequid Educational Centre (CEC) honoured its top students recently with its annual Achievement Night Awards ceremony.
The Achievement Awards recognize students who have contributed to various aspects of student life while maintaining a strong academic standing. This year’s ceremony was also used to recognize CEC’s international students, as well as honour students who achieved academic recognition in externally administered mathematics, chemistry and physics competitions.
The Truro-based high school presented other special awards, as well. A list of award winners is as follows:

Maddie Greatorex -- Ernest H. Abbott Award – Grade 10
Thomas Vickers -- Ernest H. Abbott Award – Grade 10
Lorne MacLean -- Ernest H. Abbott Award – Grade 11
Hannah Crouse -- Ernest H. Abbott Award – Grade 11
Charleigh Marshall -- Rick Hansen School Program Award
Quinn Alexander -- Brian Scallion and Dianne Powell Scholarship
Nicholas Munden -- William H. Faltenhine Scholarship
Michael Nolan -- Hugh Gilchrist Dickson Memorial Bursary
Allison Parsons -- High School Musical Award
Alexandra Strachan -- Teresa Marshall Award
Joel Richards -- Lieutenant Governor Medal
Kathryn MacQuarrie -- Lieutenant Governor Medal and The Association of Professional Engineers of Nova Scotia Award
The awards ceremony was hosted by CEC on Wednesday, May 31. Students who receive an award in each of their three years at CEC will receive a Distinction Award plaque in their graduating year.
