Additional School Gymnasiums now open for Community Use
CCRCE is ready to open additional school gyms for community access. Schools will now be accepting bookings with rentals for community use to begin as early as the evening of Monday, November 23rd.
Please note first priority is given to school-based sporting events. Gym bookings differ from school-to-school and will depend on scheduling and the availability of custodial staff.
No spectators are permitted for any sporting events held in our schools.
On November 3, 2020, CCRCE shared the initial list of schools on our website that were first to open. Those schools were selected first because they had the custodial staff available to support the additional disinfecting required to reopen those spaces. CCRCE has been working in the background since that time to plan around our second phase of reopening in each Family of Schools.

A few important notes:
- No spectators are permitted for any sporting events held in our schools. Following Nova Scotia’s Back to School Plan, only essential adults will be permitted in schools during community use. This includes players/participants, officials, coaches, instructors or anyone else who is essential to be in the gymnasium.
- Building access will end at 9:30 pm sharp for all events. This will ensure our custodial staff will have sufficient time to disinfect and prepare schools for the following school day.
- Rental fees are waived this school year to ensure equitable access to facilities. All facility cleaning will be handled by CCRCE custodial staff following COVID-19 cleaning guidelines.
- Community groups wanting to book a CCRCE gymnasium must review CCRCE’s Community User Guidelines.
- Please note: Community groups can book any gymnasium within our schools listed above. They are not limited to a school within their community.
