Education Services


CCRCE is dedicated to providing inclusive, equitable and high-quality education for all students. The Education Services Department works collaboratively with schools and other regional departments to meet the diverse learning needs of all students from pre-primary to senior high school.

Education Services is comprised of two divisions that work collaboratively to support our schools.

Programs and Student Services

The Programs and Student Services Division is responsible for developing and delivering programs and related services through an inclusive model of education. This model uses a multi-tiered system of supports (MTSS) specific to Nova Scotia and addresses students’ academic, social-emotional, and behavioural needs in an integrated way.  
Some of the ways that our team provides support & services:

  • Implementation of Nova Scotia’s Public Education curriculum, programs, and related services
  • Programs and support services for students with special needs
  • French Second Language curriculum and programs
  • Technology Integration
  • Data analysis of student assessments, well-being survey results and overall student results
    • This is used to inform the best practices at our schools and support continuous system and school improvement
  • Guidance and counselling services
  • Student equity initiatives and support services
  • School community partnerships
  • Approval of relevant research and research projects
  •  Support Professional Learning across all CCRCE schools and departments


System Administration

The System Administration Division works collaboratively with the Department of Programs and Student Services to fulfill the mandate of Education Services. This division is responsible for:

  • Leadership and operational management of the Family of Schools Supervisors and all schools
  • Professional development and succession planning of school-based administrators
  • Providing system supports to ensure there are effective Professional Learning Communities in all CCRCE schools
  • Implementation of all school-related policies and procedures (ministerial, provincial and CCRCE-based)
  • School Advisory Councils
  • Providing leadership and support to the Student Success Planning Process and preparation of school annual reports
  • The allocation of school staff (including teaching and administrative staff, educational assistants, student support workers, student support staff, and library services staff). This work is done in collaboration with Human Resources Services and Programs & Student Services
  • Review and evaluations of all school-based staff
  • The Information Technology Division
  • The International Student Program
  • Development of partnerships with Community Agencies
