Chignecto Central Regional Centre for Education wants input from families and community members from three schools in Western Pictou County as it reimagines current overlapping catchment areas.
The current catchment areas of West Pictou Consolidated, Salt Springs Elementary, and Scotsburn Elementary overlap, causing inefficient bus routes and limiting CCRCE’s ability to roll out Bus Planner, an online bus information system that would improve service to Pictou County.
The boundary adjustment conversation will also provide the opportunity to explore the possibility of Pre-primary at West Pictou Consolidated, the only elementary school in Pictou County that does not house a pre-primary program at its school site.
The Regional Centre for Education is reaching out to hear ideas and suggestions to help establish clear catchment area boundaries for the 2023-24 school year. The online engagement opens on January 19 and closes on February 9, 2023.
Families and community members can provide their thoughts through an online tool called ThoughtExchange. Along with the online platform, there are voicemail, email or traditional mail options to provide input.
